Permanent Residents

The Top Dog!

Chapo was surrenders by Dakota to ensure a safe permanent home and is by far the best trained and most educated horse at the rescue.  He teaches beginners what a well behaved horse should be able to do for them.

Chapo has a forever home with the rescue.

Good ol' boy

Slider came to the rescue when Dakota was only 8 years old.  Slider was given to Dakota by someone who recognized his deep love and feel for horses.  He's an old man now and generally just an easy going good boy!

Slider has also found his forever home at the Haven.

The Name Says it All

Magic became a resident of the rescue in November of 2022.

Dakota of High Desert Cowboys put a lot of time in training him. He is trained with voice commands and neck reins. He was also trained to lay down for persons with disabilities to be able to ride him.

Thoroughbreds

Green Stallion

Recently saved from auction, Phoenix is still a stud and is quite green.  He needs a patient hand but is a sweetheart.  We would like to raise funds to geld him.  Let us know if you can help.

OTTB

Fred came to us because he was diagnosed with a chronic HR suspensory injury that made him no longer capable of performing as the Hunter he was training to be.  He is currently being re-trained to make someone a great trail horse.

He is sweet and super cute!

Mama and Son

Introducing Hope

New to us just this week (April 2023), this mother and baby pair are about to go through the weaning process.

Mama needs more weight and baby needs to learn how to be handled on a halter.

and Chance

Chance is a super cute furry baby.  He is curious and relatively calm for someone his age!

We have started separating him from his mama a few hours a day and they both seem to be handling it well.

The Girls

Sweet but Nervous

Luna was rescued from a bad situation.  She has obviously been mistreated and is taking time to build trust with us at the rescue.  She is HUNGRY!  She is also pregnant so we are trying to put some weight on her and help her adjust to her new _safe_ life.  Luna won't be available for adoption for more than year since we will wait until she foals.

A Trooper

Harley came to us in mid winter (2023) and has done an amazing job teaching Vena's daughter, Shila, how to be assertive in the saddle.  She is a solid lesson horse right now.  As you can see, she still needs to get more weight on and we are working hard to keep the calories in front of her!

A White Knight

.

Meet Ghost 8 yr old Quarter Horse such an amazing quick learning handsome boy

Loki came to us 2 years ago and was adopted due to unforeseen circumstance he is back and will be getting tuned up by High Desert Cowboys.

Princess is a BLM Mustang learning with one our Veterans that volunteer. Am amazing bond to watch.
